God's Approval

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,
a workman
who does not need to be ashamed…."

II Timothy 2:15 (NIV)

Our 11 year-old granddaughter, Mary Kathryn, played basketball again tonight with her 5th and 6th grade team. The regular conference season was completed last week, but their coach has been finding extra games and tournaments for them to play. They love the extra playing time and it helps develop their basketball skills.

Tonight was one of those times.

Those girls have improved so much since the first game they played together a few months ago. They have worked hard and learned how to more correctly handle and shoot the basketball.

Mary Kathryn’s friend, Paige, won the game for them last week by hitting two – three pointers in the final minutes. Parents, grandparents, and friends clapped and shouted encouragement when the buzzer sounded and they had won one more time.

Someday God will examine what kind of worker we have been for Him. Are you building His Word into your life? Faithful and diligent study of God’s Word is the only way we will understand His purpose for our lives.

As the basketball season comes to a close, Mary Kathryn’s coach tells her team they have progressed tremendously because of their continuing hard work all season.

If judgment day should arrive tomorrow, would God be able to give His approval and say that you have been a workman who does not need to be ashamed? If not, begin today studying His Word and seeking His face. He will answer your prayer and your season of life will end well too.
