My
husband and I have
taught our
children, and they
in turn have
taught our
grandchildren, to
give thanks before
a meal. It has
been our desire
that they would
truly be grateful
to God for
providing us our
daily food.
Through
the many years I
thought we had
heard about every
phrase possible in
those prayers.
"Bless
Mommy",
"Bless
Daddy",
"Thank you
for the french
fries", and
"help sissy
to feel
better", is
just a small
collection that
has come from the
mouths of those
precious babes. I
think some of the
most unusual words
were prayed by our
two year-old
granddaughter
Brooke.
It
didn't matter who
or how many of the
family prayed
before a meal, up
would go Brooke's
hand to pray. For
months and months
her one sentence
prayer was,
"Let the good
guys win and the
evil guys
lose." She
repeated those
words at every
meal. As her
grandmother, I
stood in amazement
that at two years
of age she was so
insistent that the
good guys win and
the evil guys
lose.
Actually,
how could we ask
anymore for our
children and
grandchildren.
My
spirit was
quickened when I
read Proverbs
11:21 from the
Living Bible. Just
as Brooke had been
praying, the evil
people will be
punished and the
godly will go
free. I prayed
that Brooke's
spirit would
always be as
sensitive and
transparent as it
was at that young
age.
The
Lord is
triumphant! And as
His children,
saved by His
grace, we are
going to be the
winners.
